Long words are the hardest to guess and the most satisfying to find. This 8-letter word finder filters our full word list by the positions you know, the letters you need, and the letters you have eliminated.
How to use the 8-letter word finder
- Enter letters into the position boxes only where you are certain of them.
- Use "Must include" for letters the word definitely contains somewhere.
- Use "Must NOT contain" to remove letters your puzzle has already ruled out.
- Press "Find words" and browse the alphabetical results.
With eight positions, even two or three good clues shrink the list fast. Endings are a useful shortcut: a large share of 8-letter words end in S, and endings like -ING, -TION and -NESS are worth testing in the last boxes when a crossword grid allows it. If nothing matches, loosen one clue at a time rather than starting over — usually a single wrong letter is hiding the answer.
