About Word Finder Tools
Good clues deserve quick answers.
Word Finder Tools is a free collection of small, focused tools for anyone who plays with words: a word finder that filters by the letter clues you already have, dedicated finders for 5, 6, 7 and 8-letter words, tools for words containing, starting with or ending with your letters, and an anagram solver that unscrabbles any rack of tiles. Whether you are finishing a crossword over coffee, chasing a bonus play in a tile game, or hunting for the right word for a poem, the idea is the same — type what you know, get an honest list of what fits.
Why we built it
Many word sites bury a simple search under pop-ups, sign-up walls and slow pages. We wanted the opposite: one clean page per tool, a search that answers instantly, and results you can tap to copy. The site works on any phone, tablet or computer with nothing to install.
Our word list
Searches run against a dictionary built from SCOWL (the English Speller Database), a long-running open word-list project maintained by Kevin Atkinson and released under a permissive licence. We cleaned it for game use — lowercase words only, no brand names or abbreviations — leaving over 125,000 standard English words. Full source and licence details are on our Terms of Use page.
Your privacy
Every search happens inside your own web browser. The letters you type are never sent to us, stored, or sold. Advertising supports the site and keeps the tools free; the Privacy Policy explains how that works.
