Terms of Use

Last updated: 9 October 2026

Welcome to Word Finder Tools. By using this website you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

The service

Word Finder Tools provides free online word-search utilities (word finders, an anagram solver and related tools) for personal entertainment, education and puzzle-solving. The tools are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We aim for accuracy but do not guarantee that results are complete or suitable for any official game ruling — tournament and competition organisers' dictionaries always take precedence.

Acceptable use

You may use the tools for your own puzzles and games. You agree not to attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it at abusive rates, or misrepresent its results as an official dictionary decision. How you use word help in a game is between you, your fellow players and the game's rules — many friendly games welcome a finder; ranked competitions usually do not.

Word list licensing

Our word list is derived from SCOWL, the English Speller Database (ESDB) maintained by Kevin Atkinson, used under its permissive licence: Copyright 2000-2026 by Kevin Atkinson. Permission to use, copy, modify, distribute, and sell any part of the database, or word lists created from it, is granted without fee, provided the copyright notice appears in all copies and in supporting documentation. The underlying sources are mostly public domain. Full details are available from the SCOWL project.

Intellectual property

The site's design, text and code belong to Word Finder Tools unless stated otherwise. Individual words and word lists themselves are facts and are not claimed as our copyright.

Advertising

The site is supported by advertising (including Google AdSense). We are not responsible for the content of third-party advertisements or the sites they link to.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of this free service.
